Duke's Place is extremely lucky to have so many excellent eating out establishments very close by. In fact most of the nearby villages have a good pub.

The nearest is the Chequers Inn (renowned for its excellent value Sunday carvery) situated just down the road from us. The Sawley Arms at Sawley serves excellent food (more discerning than the normal pub grub) and their garden is well worth a visit. The George at Wormald Green, recently refurbished, is proving to be an excellent eating house as is the Hare & Hounds at Burton Leonard.

We highly recommend the Boars Head in Ripley and the Grantley Arms in Grantley, both of which currently have super chefs and are excellent value.

The restaurant and tea-rooms at Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal Estate are also worth a visit. Open from 10am most days of the year for morning coffee, afternoon tea and hot lunches. They also offer homemade soup, sandwiches and a large selection of homemade cakes and pastries. There are excellent facilities for children, including baby-changing rooms, a play-area within the restaurant and a menu especially designed with childrens' tastes in mind.

We are also close to that Yorkshire institution in Harrogate - Bettys Tea Rooms famous the World over for its elegance and service and superb food.

Harrogate is full of exciting bars and good food restaurants due to the proximity of the Harrogate Conference Centre and is only a few miles down the road from us.
