Duke's Place is an ideal base for exploring the whole of Yorkshire, yet within close proximity to Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough and Pateley Bridge and only 22 miles from the historic city of York. We are located about half a mile north east of Bishop Thornton in the heart of Nidderdale.

The East Coast is within easy driving distance being only sixty miles away, but the area is also rich in heritage with ruined abbeys, cathedrals and many National Trust properties close by.
The A1(M) and A59/A61 provide excellent road access to Nidderdale and Duke's Place and there is a mainline railway station at Harrogate with trains from London and the South East available.
Directions from Harrogate
From Harrogate Town Centre, follow the A61 north towards Ripon. Continue through Killinghall, by pass Ripley, and at the second Ripley Roundabout, follow the B6165 signposted Pateley Bridge.
After 0.5 miles, take the next turning right onto Scarah Bank, signposted Bishop Thornton and Fountains Abbey.
Follow this road for about 2 miles, past the Markington / Bishop Thornton crossroads. Continue straight on past the Chequers Inn and Duke's Place is 0.75 miles from the crossroads, on your left.
Directions from Ripon
Follow the A61 south from Ripon. Three miles after the Ripon Bypass roundabout, turn right onto a local road signposted Markington.
Follow straight through the village for approx 1.5 miles. until a crossroads. Turn right.
